OCR (Optical Character Recognition) reads text from images. Scanned PDFs contain photos of pages rather than actual text — OCR makes that text selectable and editable.

It works best on scanned documents, photographed pages, and image-only PDFs. For regular digital PDFs, use the PDF to Word tool instead.

Accuracy depends on scan quality. Clear, high-contrast scans at 200 DPI or higher give the best results. Handwriting is not well supported.

Yes. Files are processed via a secure server connection for high-quality OCR extraction and are immediately deleted after conversion. We do not store your documents.
